In 1997 the American behavioural economist Richard Thaler (b. 1945) ran an experiment in the Financial Times a Guessing Game which was a version of Keynes’ Beauty Contest.

Not everybody is rational. While Thaler's 1997 Financial Times experiment produced a winning number 13, another experiment by Pinnacle in 2014 resulted in number 20 being the winner.
